We publish handwritten fiction, non-fiction, reviews, art, poetry, critical essays and other experimental forms that can fit on a postcard.

Submissions are currently closed.

First submit the text of your piece(s) to in the body of the email (no attachments, please). If you’re looking to submit a longer piece, we ask that you break your work into separate postcards which will be published as a series — submit longer work as a single submission, noting postcard breaks. Due to a recent influx of submissions, we ask that you limit your offering to two pieces. Please also include a brief, publishable bio in the body of your email. You can expect to hear from us within a month (though occasionally longer, we’re trying our best) of your submission. If accepted, we will ask you to send your piece to us via postcard.

All work must be previously unpublished. Multiple and simultaneous submissions are allowed, of course, but please let us know if your work is placed elsewhere. Authors retain all rights and copyright to their works. First Class Lit requests one-time, exclusive rights to publish your work. We publish a new postcard every Monday. At this time we unfortunately are not able to offer payment for accepted submissions — like our colleagues in literary fiction, the affable United States Postal Service, we are currently operating at a loss.
